*Limited edition of 150 copies, numbered.* An exercise in quantum paleontology! Tropa Macaca - the Lisbon-based duo of André Abel (guitar, electronics) and Joana da Conceição (synth, electronics, paintings) - delivers two expansive pieces that exist like landscapes suspended inside us, alive between promise and ruin. Truly mysterious music made for and by adventurous, vibrating people!
Originally presented as immersive installations - Animais Sintéticos at gnration in Braga (2022) and Aerossol at PADA in Barreiro (2020) - these compositions allied music to da Conceição's paintings and videos, creating different pacts between the audible and the visible. A confrontation in the form of an elegy, in search of reconciliation.
Active since 2005 with releases on Siltbreeze, Software (Daniel Lopatin's imprint!), and The Trilogy Tapes, Tropa Macaca have been described as "the best band in the world" (Cafe OTO) and masters of "shape-shifting, shut-in tekno sculptures" (Low Company). Their sound - built and destroyed from a fusion of electronics and transfigured electric guitar - approaches total expression and pure sonic hypnosis.
Animais Sintéticos and Aerossol showcase their music at its most refined: truncated loops and elements, minimalist yet blown up maximally in mastering. The compositions filter and cross numerous branches of experimental music, opening and closing new avenues and possibilities at each instant. Intellectually sensualist, physically free, inspired by transience, erosion and creation.
For admirers of Ninos Du Brasil, Rafael Toral, the Príncipe sound, Autechre's abstract territories, and anyone navigating the humid rainforest terrain between radical electronics and organic sonic sculpture. This is the missing link between underground cassette culture and forward-thinking electronic music!
