On Anyway, oto pare guitar‑band language down to its essentials: clipped rhythms, glassy chords and murmured melodies arranged with a minimalist’s ear, resulting in a quietly luminous set where small shifts in tone feel momentous.

Anyway presents oto as a band fascinated by what can be done with the fewest possible moving parts. Across the album, songs are built from unadorned rhythm sections, clean guitar figures and vocals that rarely rise above an inside voice. Rather than read as thin, this sparseness becomes a strength: the space between notes feels deliberate, each entrance and exit carefully weighed, so that even the slightest distortion or harmony change registers as a real event.

The material touches on indie rock, slowcore and post‑rock, but never settles comfortably into any of them. Tempos tend toward the measured, drum patterns favour subtle displacement over obvious fills, and guitars move between chiming arpeggios and droning two‑note mantras. Lyrically, the songs sketch small, ambiguous scenes – fragments of conversations, glimpses of city life, unresolved feelings – leaving plenty of room for the listener to project. Anyway is a record that rewards close, patient listening: an understated but persistent presence that lingers long after it ends.
