Moses Yoofee Trio, the Berlin group of pianist Moses Yoofee, drummer Noah Fürbringer and bassist Roman Klobe, came up through clips of their jams posted online, which drew a following and led to the 2023 mini-album Ocean on LEITER and a German Jazz Prize for live act of the year. Their 2025 debut album proper, MYT, expanded the improvised concept with fuller arrangements, landed on year-end lists and a German Jazz Award nomination, and sent them touring through Asia, the US and Europe.
Chasing Light is the LP they made on a break from the road, choosing their own Neukölln rehearsal room over a studio. They played for a week, borrowing microphones and hitting record on jams and half-formed ideas, then spent weeks editing and producing, inventing whole new pieces by recombining drums, samples and overdubs. Their music sits where jazz meets hip-hop, R&B, soul and broken beat, built from texture, repetition and precisely placed dynamic shifts rather than long solos.
Across six tracks it runs from the breakbeats and siren-like synths of Nothing to Lose, with neighbour and friend Mulay, to the strings of the title piece, the afrobeat lean of Inner Circles and the wonky hip-hop swing of Honest, with Ahmad Mateen.
