"Originally formed under the name of Proteo, Politrio managed to produce a valuable album with Rockgarage Records in 1986 and participated with two songs recorded in the studio in as many wave compilations the following year. 'Eisenhower Effect', this is the name of the LP, was received very positively by critics and presented as avant-garde compared to its time. The musical approach of the album is completely experimental and already moving towards the nascent alternative rock (although still based on a sound that is still mainly new wave). The use of electronics dictates the main rhythmic character of the pieces but without ever compromising the prominence of the other instruments, especially the guitar, always highlighted and played in a rather original key. The final effect is a very funky and relaxing synthpop style. The singing, interpreted in a very personal and innovative way by Canali, is often theatricalized and light-hearted, anticipating the style of the Forlì rocker who would come later."
