Lamasz and Grandbruit return to Past Inside the Present for the first time in more than five years with Fictions, the first collaborative recording from brothers Pier-Luc and Francis Tremblay. Following four acclaimed solo releases across the label, Fictions brings together the defining elements of both artists into a single body of work.
Drawing from the tape loop driven structures of Nature Morte (PITP-C016, 2020) and Broderie (PITP-C021, 2021), alongside the layered guitar compositions and environmental recordings that shaped Ruptures (PITP-C017, 2020) and Ville inerte (PITP-C019, 2021), the album finds common ground between repetition, decay, and atmosphere. Loops evolve gradually, guitars blur into dense harmonic fields, and tape hiss becomes an active part of the compositions rather than background texture.
Rather than merging two established styles, Fictions expands them. The result is a focused collection of slow moving, deeply enveloping pieces that embraces imperfection through analog processes while maintaining a strong sense of melody and restraint. It marks a natural continuation of both artists' catalogs and a long awaited return to the Past Inside the Present catalog.
