Zakè is the recording name of Zach Frizzell, an ambient and drone musician from Indianapolis. At the end of 2018 he founded the label Past Inside the Present, and later added Zakè Drone Recordings for his solo work and collaborations. His pieces are built from loops, field recordings, tape machines and vintage synthesizers, and develop slowly. Orchestral Tape Studies (2019) set orchestral loops against faint drones and outdoor sound. He often records in partnership, with City of Dawn, From Overseas, Benoît Pioulard and Chihei Hatakeyama among others. With Marc Ertel and Damien Duque he forms Dawn Chorus and the Infallible Sea, whose Liberamente appeared on Azure Vista.
