With Statica Memoria, zakè returns to Affin for his third solo album. Over the past years, his work with the label has developed into a distinct and continuing body of work, shaped by an ongoing exploration of duration, resonance and the spaces that emerge when sound is given enough time to unfold.
zakè has developed a particular way of approaching long-form ambient music. His compositions create an open environment in which listening can move freely between close attention and complete absorption. One can follow the smallest shifts in texture, harmony and resonance, or simply let the music run while thoughts wander and attention slowly dissolves. Ten minutes may pass before one realizes the music is still unfolding. In this sense, his pieces become a kind of cocoon – a space to navigate consciously or simply get lost in, where the timelessness of the music allows one to move through sound without having to arrive anywhere.
This quality has become a distinctive space within the Affin catalogue: sound becomes less an object to be observed than an environment to enter and inhabit. Across its four compositions, Statica Memoria unfolds as a continuous passage through this expanded territory of sound. Over the years, our work with zakè has grown into a genuine artistic friendship, built on trust, openness and a shared belief in the value of making things together. From his solo releases to collaborations with Markus Guentner and Joachim Spieth, this connection has developed into something we value deeply. Statica Memoria is both a continuation and a deepening: of zakè’s ongoing investigation into sound and duration, and of a connection that has become a valued part of Affin.
