Silk-screened die-cut sleeve with sticker. Booklet included.

The third Kallabris release (after the 1987 LP Kallabris and the 1988 LP Njonto), a 10" EP co-released in 1991 on Cranioclast's CoC imprint (catalogue CoC 09) and on Michael Anacker's own Jazztone label (JT 135). Kallabris is Anacker's long-running solo project, active since the mid-Eighties in Bochum and rooted in the same Central European experimental underground that produced Cranioclast, H.N.A.S., and the extended Dom family.

The runout etchings on the two sides form a question in miniature: "DID GIANT LIZARDS COME..." reads side A, "...AND CROUCH BEFORE YOU ON THE REEDY BANKS?" reads side B. The musical method is characteristically oblique: fragile electronic textures, tape-mangled samples, objects of uncertain provenance arranged with a dry sense of humour that aligns Kallabris with the Nurse With Wound / H.N.A.S. lineage of Dadaist sound.

Small print run, shared between the two imprints, typical of the CoC catalogue's limited-edition approach. Anacker would continue Kallabris for several decades and eventually develop a long-running partnership with Robert Lepenik on the GOD Records LP ...On What There Is... (2014). The 1991 10" is one of the period's neglected small artifacts and a good shelf companion to Cranioclast's own CoC releases of the same year.
