Il Grande Esploratore’ represents one of the highest artistic peaks ever for Tony Esposito, a percussionist who grew up alongside musicians of the calibre of Pino Daniele, Alan Sorrenti and James Senese, and who in the early 1980s talentfully combined Mediterranean and Neapolitan sound sensations with electronic, ethnic, afrobeat and world music. The result has been before everyone's eyes - and, especially, ears - for over 40 years.

'Kalimba De Luna' is clearly the gem that stands out among the tracks on “Il Grande Esploratore”, released in 1984 and incredibly... never officially reissued on vinyl until today! The rediscovery operation of this fundamental album in the history of Italian music and beyond is finally possible thanks to Cinevox Record, which has personally involved Tony Esposito himself in the production of a special edition of this evergreen.

An Italian testimonial for the Darfur (Sudan) peace campaign for over 10 years, Tony Esposito was awarded the ‘Books for Peace’ recognition by Unesco in 2024: this is the special occasion from which this initiative was born, made even more special by the bonus track “Harmónia” and two further contributions by Tony Esposito himself, author of the presentation notes for the work and the ‘For Peace’ silkscreen print attached exclusively to this release.

Black vinyl edition with inner sleeve and 26x30cm screenprinting by Tony Esposito.
