Swedish singer and composer Elin Piel returns to Mystery Circles after making a debut appearance on the Las Vegas-based ambient label back in 2020. Piel's sound deals in microscopic layers of textural detail slowly shifting around delicately embellished melodies - 'Tunnlar' is a perfect opening statement in this sense as glassy synth phrases pass through prismatic DSP and faint flickering interference skips around in the background.
"All tracks are recorded between Spring 2020 and Fall 2021. The tracks are small jams and snippets from sessions recorded live in my apartment. Late nights when my family were sleeping. I've used a variety of gear on this album. Mainly eurorack modular synth, but also Norns, Lyra 8, MC-202, Digitone, OP-1, Octatrack, OTO BAM, 0-coast and TT-303... Some of the tracks are recorded on my Fostex M80 reel to reel. The tracks are mostly named after people and places I love. The whole album is a tribute to my grandma, Ingrid. She died in 2007 but I think about her almost daily. She was such a loving and caring person. My main inspiration in life. I wish she was alive to see me grow up, become the person that I am today, meet my kids and that we could sit down and listen to this album together." - Elin Piel
