Quartet Records, in collaboration with GDM and EMI General Music Publishing, presents a fully remastered edition of Berto Pisano’s iconic and long out-of-print score for the 1971 action-adventure film Kill!, directed by novelist Romain Gary and starring Stephen Boyd, Jean Seberg, James Mason, Curt Jürgens, and Aldo Sambrell. Kill! is a wild, pulp-infused thriller set against a backdrop of Interpol investigations and international intrigue, now regarded as a cult favorite for its over-the-top plot and subgenre energy. Pisano’s score is a dazzling cocktail of Italian tradition and the emerging sounds of the early 1970s, blending exotic motifs, high-octane action cues, and sophisticated erotic themes. The explosive title track, “Kill! Them All!”, features the powerhouse vocals of soul legend Doris Troy, while the love theme is enriched by Jean Seberg’s whispers and the unmistakable chorus of Alessandro Alessandroni. The soundtrack also includes lush orchestrations, hypnotic instrumentals like “Allucinazion,” and the ethereal voice of Edda Dell’Orso on “To Jean”.
Originally released on LP by General Music in Italy and Seven Seas in Japan, the score has become a collector’s item, with previous CD editions long out of print. This marks the first European CD release, remastered and restored by Chris Malone from the original stereo master tapes. The CD retains the original cover art and includes liner notes by Miguel Ángel Ordóñez, offering deep insights into the film, Pisano’s career, and the enduring appeal of this soundtrack.
Kill! stands among the most electrifying Italian film scores of its era, praised for its dynamic blend of big beat, jazz, and cinematic drama. Essential for fans of Italian soundtracks, cult cinema, and the golden age of European film music.
