condition (records/box): NM / NM Insert included. | This collection highlights key early-to-mid career works by the late German composer Wolfgang Rihm, showcasing his transition from structural modernism to a more expressive, "emotional" avant-garde style. Klavierstücke Nr. 4-7: These piano works mark Rihm's departure from rigid serialism. Klavierstück Nr. 5 (Tombeau) (1975), for instance, is a massive, expressive work dedicated to his teacher, Karlheinz Stockhausen. Vier Gedichte aus "Atemwende" von Paul Celan (1973): Composed for voice and piano, these settings of Celan’s sparse, fragmented poetry are central to Rihm's vocal output. Musik für drei Streicher (1977): A substantial string trio (violin, viola, cello) lasting nearly an hour. It is highly regarded for its physical, almost violent intensity. Tutuguri VI (Kreuze) (1981): This is the final movement of Rihm’s large-scale "poème dansé" based on Antonin Artaud. It is scored for six percussionists.
