*100 copies limited release.* Antoine Bellanger’s unconventional trajectory traverses the realms of radio pieces, indie rock for adults, rock for kids, and contemporary art with sound at its core. Since his arrival in the Basque Country, always further from the city lights, this versatile artist with strong ecological convictions roams his homeland, continually exploring the field recording world, capturing the in situ and the open sky. His soundtrack then outlines a sonic landscape where stripped-down texts naturally find their place in his setting. In his world, simultaneously so distant and intimately close to ours.
To create “Le Jardin Perdu / Talweg” Antoine Bellanger primarily used two instruments: a cassette recorder walkman and an ocarina. In his quest for ecological justice, Antoine opted for a second-hand walkman powered by rechargeable recycled batteries and a vintage cassette sourced for recording and editing soundscapes. Sometimes an observer, sometimes a participant, he plays with his own role within the scene. To perform the music of these landscapes, Antoine crafted an ocarina out of clay. Once sampled and digitally encoded using open-source software, this ocarina transforms into layers of sound and melodies. (It's worth noting that the ocarina cracked during firing, and only the sound sampled before firing remains.) Antoine can finally rest and sing his simple, innocent, and extraordinary tales.
The first 12 tracks from "Le Jardin Perdu" (Side A) were initially released in 2022 in the form of ceramic jewelry containing USB keys, produced in 10 copies. The unreleased tracks from "Talweg" (Side B) were specially composed and recorded for the cassette edition.
