LP version. On The Move is the album the Japanese keyboardist and composer Jun Fukamachi made on a solo trip to New York in 1978. The band came from the city's session players. It is credited with helping start Japan's crossover boom, and with introducing names like the Brecker Brothers and David Sanborn to Japanese listeners.
Fukamachi wrote, arranged and produced the album and plays keyboards alongside Richard Tee. Steve Gadd is on drums, Anthony Jackson and Will Lee share the bass, and Eric Gale and Barry Finnerty the guitar. Michael Brecker and Randy Brecker lead the horns with Sanborn, and Mike Mainieri adds vibraphone. The eight tracks include Dance Of Paranoia, the two parts of Departure In The Dark, and When I Got Your Wave "Pathetique", a reworking of Beethoven.
Great Tracks reissue, Japanese limited edition on black vinyl.
