The seventh release of our Peter Thomas series is dedicated to the film music for the first and most famous German science fiction television series, Rampatrouille (commonly known as Rampatrouille Orion). Just in time for the 60th anniversary of this seven-part cult classic (first aired on September 17, 1966, on ARD), this legendary highlight from Peter Thomas’ work, expanded with previously unreleased tracks, is being reissued on LP.

Rarely has the music for a television series developed such a powerful presence beyond the images as this soundtrack. The theme music can today be described without hesitation as iconic. The vocoder countdown at the beginning has been used countless times. From Pulp to Pizzicato Five, Combustible Edison, Die Fantastischen Vier, and Mousse T, the Rampatrouille music has been covered, sampled, and remixed. Since 1966, there have been numerous audio releases in different editions; however, in collaboration with Peter Thomas’ son, Philip, we have managed to enhance the soundtrack with four previously unreleased pieces found among the composer’s legacy. The basis of this LP release is the original Philips LP from 1966, supplemented by the four new titles. For this, three tracks were removed that were never used in the series.
