Sainerine is known in Vancouver for live performances involving self-mortification with an industrial staple gun. These wounds of purity and obedience are drained on their debut tape, “Sacrificator / Scarificator”. Raised in institutions of Catholicism and classical music, they perform what they know: blood and opera. Synth arrangements weep over rich vocals and pained harmonies, alongside elements of noise that rip into the belly of this confessional. The artist negotiates a constricted past, struggling to remove a religious birthmark. Sainerine sings, “He’s holding me too close to say goodbye, at night I drift to sleep under watchful eye...”
Mixed and Mastered by Jack Shirley of Deafheaven production acclaim.
