Amon Düül
Amon Düül grew out of a Munich political commune in 1968 and split almost at once into two bands. Amon Düül I celebrated a joyfully open-ended experimentation that at times matched the wildest American psychedelia, its loose, percussive jams recorded in single sessions and released across several albums; the members were close to the Kommune 1 scene in Berlin and for a time counted the model Uschi Obermaier among them. The more song-oriented Amon Düül II, with Chris Karrer and Renate Knaup, became one of the defining krautrock groups on records like Yeti and Tanz der Lemminge.
