Duane Pitre
Duane Pitre is an American composer and performer from New Orleans who works with long tones and alternative tuning systems, above all just intonation. He was a professional skateboarder with Alien Workshop in the early 1990s and taught himself composition after playing in the San Diego post-hardcore band Camera Obscura. He is known for slow microtonal pieces for small ensembles and for curating The Harmonic Series, a compilation of works in just intonation. Duane Pitre lived for a time in New York, where he was artist in residence at ISSUE Project Room in spring 2009.
