Elodie is the duo of the English musician Andrew Chalk and the Belgian Timo van Luijk. Both had long histories in drone and improvised music: Chalk through Ferial Confine and Mirror, van Luijk as a co-founder of Noise-Maker's Fifes and under the names Af Ursin and In Camera. Their first documented recording, Echos Pastoraux, appeared in 2011, and most of what followed came out on Chalk's Faraway Press and van Luijk's La Scie Dorée. The pianist Tom James Scott has played on several of their records.

"Forth unobserved I wentIn darkness and security,By the secret ladder, in disguise,In secret, seen of none,Oh night more lovely than the dawn!Lost to all things and myself,And, amid the lillies forgotten,Threw all my cares away"
A Colourful Storm presents Enteha, the latest piece by Elodie, the duo of Andrew Chalk and Timo van Luijk. They embody a free-spirited approach to music making whose improvisational process can be traced to a distinct period of Europe's post-industrial landscape. More than two decades of ambitious solo and collaborative work would solidify both Chalk and van Luijk as masterful craftsmen exploring the tension between composition and free improvisation: their individual lists of collaborators boas…
Handmade slipcase by Andrew Chalk limited to 100 copies. The unique and visionary Elodie return with the latest of theirenigmatic, twilight meanderings. Sticking true to their roots, the lush Elodie signature sound has here been further refined to a delightfully high degree. Awesome!! Finally out, the fourth album by the par of Andrew Chalk and Timo Van Luijk, a musical fantasy in two movements, symbolising the evocative power and poetry of ancient illustration.
The tremulous, electro-acoustic/ambient beauty ’Le Nid D’Ivoire’ marks the return of Andrew Chalk and Timo Van Luijk’s enchanted Elodie duo to the latter’s La Scie Dorée label. It's an engrossing smudge from oneiric wind, brass, keys and string tones to much gauzier, gently psychedelic scenes over the LP’s spellbinding narrative arc. With intravenous stealth and efficacy ‘Le Nid D’Ivoire’ gets right under the skin and soothes the senses with its glacially unfolding pace and sensuous smoke-curl …
** Edition of 300 copies only. All handmade sleeve in full coloured papers tipped on. Colour lined inner. Japanese obi With full colour insert ** Elodie’s sublime second album presented on vinyl for the first time. Originally issued on CD in 2011 ‘La Lumiere Parfumee’ finds Andrew Chalk and Timo Van Luijk’s duo hovering into the languid, spectral forms that have charmed us ever since. Impossibly delicate and floaty, ‘La Lumiere Parfumee’ is a like a slow motion, weightless ballet written for ke…
2018 small repress. Performed by Timo van Luijk & Andrew Chalk Guitar: Tom James Scott / Korogi: Daisuke Suzuki . “It is as though the storm is scolding the foot of the mountain And the petals of the cherry tree fall like snow The moment fills me with compassion The rains of spring arrive and fall like tears The blossom falls like rain It is a world full of regret”
2018 small repress. 'Le manteau d’étoiles' collects ten airy instrumental spheres glowing and evaporating in a universal infinity like any moment in the panorama of everyday life. Throughout the whole album, there's a refined sense of reductionism and that achingly poetic melancholy which drips from every sustained note and hushed passage, through the sparse, non-linear interplay of guitar, bass, gongs, flutes, clarinet, percussion, and electronics, Timo Van Lujik and Andrew Chalk, here expandin…
Stephen O'Malley on Elodie, the project of Andrew Chalk and Timo van Luijk, and their album Vieux Silence: "Having been entranced by both Andrew Chalk's work with Mirror (and back to his solo works as Ferial Confine, plus multiple collaborations with David Jackman, The New Blockaders, Daisuke Suzuki, etc.), and Timo van Luijk (as Af Ursin, In Camera, La Poupée Vivante, and collaborations with Kris Vanderstraeten and others) for many years, I was naturally intrigued to hear about and hear their …
La Porte Ouverte is the Elodie's highly anticipated new vinyl-only album, released on Andrew Chalk own Faraway Press imprint. Andrew Chalk and Timo Van Luijk have been collaborating extensively as Elodie over the past year, often helped by Tom James Scott here tickling the keys of the piano to augment with his own strings and treatments. The album is constructed from slowly revolving patterns of delicate harmonics floating around an omnipresent timbral drone, plenty of bells and gongs, and while…

Beautiful album from Andrew Chalk and Timo van Luijk, from pastoral snaphots to some oriental dreams. Eclectic ensemble of 18 instrumental arrangements invoking an epic and existential soundtrack determined by the power of momentary destiny and reflective sentiment. Guest appearences by Jean-Noel Rebilly and Tom James Scott
Beautiful new album by Andrew Chalk and Timo Van Luyk (with Daisuke Suzuki on percussions and Ian Middleton on "accidental sounds"). Andrew Chalk is one of the most appreciate musician in this category floating between drone and ambient music, and his meeting with Timo Van Luijk has created an amazing disc, able to emphasize the slow, limited gestures, movements elegiac elegance, but still so heavily controlled. Each faint seems to have a gesture meaning. Here you can hear a flute (connected to …
