Mal Waldron
Mal Waldron (1925-2002) was an American jazz pianist and composer, born in New York City, who settled in Europe in the 1960s and died in Brussels. He is known as Billie Holiday's last regular accompanist, as the author of the standard "Soul Eyes", and for a piano style built on dissonant voicings and repeated motifs that moved towards free jazz in his European years, across more than a hundred albums as a leader.
