Philip Samartzis

A Melbourne-based sound artist, composer and curator, Philip Samartzis investigates the social and environmental conditions of the planet's most remote regions. Professor at RMIT University and artistic director of the Bogong Centre for Sound Culture, he is a three-time Antarctic Arts Fellow: his expeditions to Antarctica have generated compositions weaving field recording, musique concrète and acoustic ecology into embodied accounts of extreme climates and atmospheres.
