Sachiko M

Sachiko M (Sachiko Matsubara) is a Japanese musician who plays a sampler emptied of samples, using only its internal test tones. Active as a sampler player since 1994, she first worked with cut-up sampling, then reduced her sound to sine waves, test tones and silence. Her solo album Sine Wave Solo, made entirely of sine waves, brought her international attention. Sachiko M formed the duo Filament with Otomo Yoshihide and played in the trio I.S.O. She recorded in duo with Toshimaru Nakamura (Un), and with Otomo and Nakamura made Good Morning Good Night.
