Ftarri Collection 2 gathers two live sets from the festivals run by the Japanese label Ftarri at SuperDeluxe in Tokyo. It first appeared as one disc of Ftarri Collection, a seven-CD box limited to 300 copies, drawn from the Ftarri Festival and the Ftarri doubtmusic Festival. When the box sold out, Ftarri reissued each disc separately on its Meenna imprint. This one sets a quartet from the first festival beside a duo of Eddie Prévost and Sachiko M.
The first Ftarri Festival took place in April 2008, at SuperDeluxe in Tokyo and at UrBANGUILD in Kyoto. The opening track comes from the Tokyo concert of 20 April 2008, recorded by Chihei Hatakeyama. It is a 22-minute improvisation by Noid on cello, Kai Fagaschinski on clarinet, Axel Dörner on trumpet and Taku Unami on computer and guitar. The second track, 31 minutes long, was recorded by Masahide Ando at the Ftarri doubtmusic Festival, organised with the label doubtmusic, on 19 September 2010. Prévost, who co-founded AMM in 1965, plays percussion, and Sachiko M plays sinewaves. Neither track has a title beyond the names of the players.
Released by Meenna on 25 December 2016 as meenna-112, a CD in a limited edition of 200, mixed and mastered by Hatakeyama, with artwork and design by Cathy Fishman.
