*2023 stock. 250 copies limited edition* On March 17, 2021, Tetuzi Akiyama, Ayako Kataoka and Kiyomitsu Odai gave a concert at Ftarri in Suidobashi, Tokyo. This CD is a complete recording of the two sets they performed that day (25 and 34 minutes respectively). Akiyama played electric guitar; Kataoka used turntable, electronics and voice; and Odai performed on computer.
Internationally renowned improviser/guitarist Tetuzi Akiyama lives in Tokyo and performs frequently both in Japan and overseas. He has released numerous CDs and LPs on labels of many countries. Though not as experienced or as well known as Akiyama, Ayako Kataoka and Kiyomitsu Odai are artists whose backgrounds promise outstanding careers going forward. Kataoka holds an MFA in Electronic Music from Mills College, where she studied with Pauline Oliveros and Maggi Payne. While investigating the mutual effects of sound, space and body, she presents sound art, installations, and performance works. Odai, after earning a B.A. in law from Waseda University, moved to the United States and studied composition, receiving a Ph.D from the University of California, Santa Barbara. His former teachers include Clarence Barlow, Curtis Roads, Roscoe Mitchell, and Hilda Paredes. He has earned accolades for his activities as a composer/improviser (piano, keyboard, computer) in Europe and the United States.
