Prurient (aka noise musician Dominick Fernow) has become one of the most well-known and influential names in the noise field. Anti-technology and anti-electricity. An unconventional use of banging objects together to create music; playing with live wire, pennies, frying pans, toolboxes, scrap metal, and used shotgun shells are an example of some of his instruments he has used before. On this new material sounds and voice gradually emerge, in a distant and threatening outhouse.
Two Electronic Sonorities LP includes 2 seminal electronic music radical realizations by Charlemagne Palestine: "Crwon Chan 1&2 + 3&4' subtitled "Gus Salomon Dance Concert '70' a continuous, ever-moving, ever-changing sound-form produced with simple sine tone generators, moog and arps, intended to create a texture for the Gus Solomons (a choreographer at New York University and Merce Cunningham associate) new dance work.
Second side is sublime late 60's electronic work inspired by Michelangelo A…
In 2011, a processing facility in Kansas, the last to process Kodachrome, discontinued the K14 developing process. The historical stock became obsolete. In 2010, I photographed 14 rolls of Kodachrome 16mm, which had been stored since 1986. The stock was developed, in the last batch of footage processed. The resulting film is American Colour. The film was photographed over a week while traveling to Kansas from the birthplace of Kodachrome in upstate New York. In the wake of the obsolescence of Ko…
Nathan McLaughlin lives and works in an intentional community in rural Minnesota, via years spent living in Maryland & Pennsylvania. For some time the focus has been on creating music with the reel to reel tape machine….the primary goal being to create beautiful sound heavily revolving around and directly influenced by the intensity of domestic situations. This goal exists as a way of explaining a complex and fragile life while protecting privacy, anonymity and individual free will. The Refriger…
RESTOCKED!! An unreleased 30-minute piece by composer and sound artist Joe Colley. Composed from concrete materials and premiered at Field Effects, San Francisco, in 2002. Rehersal version discovered and slightly re-edited in late 2011. Joe Colley (b.1972 Ft. Lauderdale) is a self taught artist concerned primarily with the phenomena of sound and it’s unique ability to activate a consciousness set apart from rational understanding in a way very different from visual or verbal means. This co…
Since the end of the 90s, Laurent Jeanneau has been recording the musics of mostly endangered minorities mainly in Southeast Asia. Alongside his relentless pursue of collecting predominantly unknown and unpublished musics, he produced a series of remixes combining these recordings with natural sounds, archive material and electronically treated sounds.
Our first release 'The Organ of Corti' was a digital studio recording. We spent a few days at Kleylehof, Klaus's atelier - farmhouse on the border between Austria and Hungary, playing and recording every night. The sound is very clean, because everything is digitally generated and recorded. 'Pinna' was a recording of a concert that we played in a small church in Vienna. It is a microphone recording of a 'real' sonic space : we used 5 or 6 speakers distributed in the space, e.g. one speak…
Split 12" between two of the artists at the forefront of the experimental dance scene, SND and NHK. Aside from sharing three-letter names, the two acts also nicely compliment each other via skewed electronics which come out of mutual dance and minimal electronic sensibilities. SND offer a cut of jacking minimal loops, flows of repetition that unfold before your eyes (and ears), while NHK is suitably equal part bass-squelch with rudimentary snare Motorik via pirate radio broadcast. Mastered…

Five pieces for Computer Controlled Modular Synthesizer and Digital Signal Processing. Composed and recorded from February 2010 – April 2011 in Brooklyn, New York. 'esstends-esstends-esstends' is a collection of spatial compositions in which audio focal points shift between external and internal emanation sources. The intent with this work is to escape the stereo image and create an activated listening space of expanded spatialization. Using just intoned pitch combinations to produce diff…
2CD version. Daphne Oram, founder of the BBC Radiophonic Workshop, died in 2003 leaving a colossal archive of reel-to-reel tapes and documents behind. This important collection of material eventually made its way to Goldsmiths College, London, who have been administering it on behalf of the Daphne Oram Trust for the last few years. The collection holds over 400 tapes made by Oram during her lifetime, and 211 of those have been archived and catalogued by the college so far. The Daphne Oram …
A colossal and epic post-ambient symphony in three movements, where echoes of string instruments, deep drones of indecipherable origin, layered synthetic waves, slowed-down and distorted dark sonic masses challenge time with a para-immobility in constant turmoil, in an unpredictable, progressive and sometimes cyclic combination of statuesque sonic forms whose physiognomy is often known and familiar, while at the same time elusive, disturbing, arcane and mysterious... Another highest and …
Nine long and extraordinary tracks collected in a 3 CD, among fluctuating ambient atmospheres, hypnotic rhythmic progressions, circular and motionless stasis, acid psychedelic escapes, evocative electronic reflections... Slow suites of "classic" ambient music suspended and dilated, soft and wrapping sonorities alternated with evocative and dramatic crescendos, through progressive sounds layerings, drones, pulses, distant echoes of human voices and subliminal perceptions of ethnical vibrations...…
Perispirit is the collaborative project of Ricardo Donoso and Luke Moldof, here delivering their debut album proper after a number of cassette editions for Prurient's Hospital Productions and Ricardo's own Semata imprint. The sound they make is brilliantly impossible to categorise, bringing together analogue and digital electronic sound sources to create a freakish organism that reminds you of anything from Keith Fullerton Whitman to Prurient to Autechre to purist musique concrète without…
Since 2009 Grant Evans has been peering ever deeper into the kosmische abyss with his records as Nova Scotian Arms for Aguirre, Preservation and Hooker Vision. He's also known for the lush Quiet Evenings releases with his wife, Rachel Evans (Motion Sickness Of Time Travel), but in solo flight his sound is more wide-eyed, exploratory, reaching heady new climes on 'Cult Spectrum', arguably his most vivid vision yet. Perhaps it's thanks to an exquisite mastering job by Lawrence English, but …
Digitalis invite us to dive headfirst into the synth froth of 'Soft Terminal', the latest emission from maverick soundscaper Norm Chambers, aka Panabrite. Over the last few years he's amassed a small library of exceptional material for the likes of Gift Tapes, Aguirre and Digitalis, plus one rather special pearl, a real scene classic, produced incognito and which we've been sworn to secrecy over. Compared with the stacks of dribbling dronesmiths and half-baked fantasists who populate this …
Awesome Solar Ipse label debut recordings! “Season Two” is the second work of the duo Ninni Morgia – Marcello Magliocchi after the acclaimed “Sound Gates” (LP Ultramarine, 2011). The new album consists in 8 tracks of elegant improv-free jazz. It seems like a mix of Hendrix and Sonny Sharrock with the blinded lightness of Keiji Haino, all fused with the personal texture of the drums and the percussions which sound as an extension of human soul’s vibration. Ninni Morgia from Sicily, a foun…
