Breathtaking solo organ improvisations recording!! This is the first volume documenting Zorn's breathtaking solo organ improvisations. Although organ was Zorn's first instrument (he often credits Lon Chaney in the silent classic Phantom of the Opera as a primal influence), in 2011 Zorn surprised even his hardcore fans by initiating a new series of solo organ concerts in churches around the world. Premiering at the historic Christ Church in Philadelphia, the word on these concerts spread li…
Not sure you could gather four bigger names from the drone metal inner circle to record a pair of splits. Hats off to Hydra Head. Both new splits come with awesome artwork from Aaron Turner, and this Torche / Boris split comes with a pretty fucking sweet t-shirt option. Don’t try and tell me you haven’t been dreaming of wearing Wata on your chest. This one hasn’t sold out of black vinyl quite yet
“In his last publication Francisco López presents us two pieces, Köllt and Kulu, both with an audiovisual and an audio version. In this work, the artist has blurred the boundaries between field recordings and artificial sounds by means of an artful manipulation of sound. As a result the field recordings are no longer identifiable, and have lost all visual association. Even in the audiovisual version of Köllt, where there seems to be a correspondence between the displayed images of ant activity a…
This album, Yôko Higashi's fifth as hamaYôko, features a triptych of pipe organ improvisations recorded at St Augustin's Church in Croix Rousse, Lyon. Higashi likens these tracks to a 'an old painting of a foggy landscape'. They are augmented by two silent passages and a fourth track, Panthere d'Erebos. Edition of 300 copies.
this is the sound that brings out the best in melted brainiacs that start producing oer klanken when seeing a white ball with black dots on it on a grass field while carnavalists run after it in between two goals, troeps that follow one colour for the rest of their days, primates that repeat what the rest of the stadion is yelling! brazil techno, football (power) elctronics, echoes from another scene. far away from the daily routines of what these italian maestros usually do with their cod…
Our first album "Sporing Promenade" was mostly produced in Canada during our stay in the second half part of 2007. While strolling in the vast forest, we made a lot of recordings in the environmental sound by handy instruments, such as kalimba, flute, pitch pipe, also various objects such as nuts, stones that we found on the way, as well as our voice. Then we made 'spontaneous compositions' with instruments such as viola, zither, melodica and effect pedals at home, along with the impression…
RESTOCKED!! Limited to 300 copies only "We haven't heard from New Zealand dronescaper Peter Wright in about a year. Well, it's been at least that long since we've reviewed one of his discs. Somehow two other Wright discs slipped through the cracks in that time though, which is a shame, since pretty much everything we've heard from Wright is fantastic. This latest double disc is no different Nine looooooong tracks spread out over two discs, most in the 15-20 minute range, which is ideal for Wrigh…
Recordings by Gordon Sharp (2001-2010) at Belmont shore (ca), mid-levels (hk) & Kobe (Japan) the mid-levels (hk) but manly at Roi vert, Okamoto, Japan. Cut at dubplates & mastering, Berlin, august 2010. Cindytalk have been active since 1982. During the 80s and the 90s their sound was defined by broken down rock structures and abstract piano ambience. A third side to their coin emerged at the dawn of the 21st Century with a turn towards obscure computer usage pushing all ressemblance of me…

Awesome electronic music by Thomas Gorbach. The composer uses algorithms to compose, but the result is so musical that it sounds intuitive and dramatic. He synthesizes sounds that mix poetic, elusive textures with powerful rhythms that come and go like images in a fog. He describes these sound sources as "various murmur and instrumental pickles" The compositions include 'Trilogy: not to yield an inch, hermitage, oysters'; and 'Miasma'.
The Zeitkratzer label releases a limited 3CD box documenting international avant-garde soloists ensemble Zeitkratzer, and their collaborations with groundbreaking electronic musicians spanning nearly a decade. This set collects all three previously-released Electronics recordings (ZKR 004CD/ZKR 005CD/ZKR 006CD), made in Germany, Spain, France, Italy and Austria with non-academic electronic musician Carsten Nicolai (aka Alva Noto), electro-acoustic composer Terre Thaemlitz, and legendary Japanese…
an amazing release by the Czech electronic pioneer. In spite of his picaresque life and many eccentricities, it ought to be, and is, as a composer that Rossmann is best known. His artistic output was not only music, of course, and his output in any case was not particularly large. There are about 30 works in all and there are occasional gaps of up to three years between one piece and the next. But what he did produce shows that he was one of the few truly original Czech composers of the last cen…
Palminger, a word genius from hamburg, presents his view about german women who break the legs of horses (men) and keep their pain awake. a regressive-masculine paranoia scenario of terrifying dimension, accompanied by a real orchestra score composed by max knoth. palminger's tongue is full of sore, his mind is constantly alert. Terre Paroxysm is Daniel Menche's second release for Utech Records and a continuation in his bringing back the vehement nature of sound. A pure acoustic-electronic recording of storms: wind, ice and rain. The field recordings were captured by Menche and densely mixed and treated in a manner to create a sense of the earth sleeping then cracking open with violent emotion. An air of electronics crackles and slides around the storm recordings in a way that only can be described as acoustic-electro. …
In April 2008, American noise duo Yellow Swans (comprised of Peter Swanson and Gabriel Mindel) announced their decision to split. The news was a shock to the noise community, not least because the band had become a regular fixture in the live arena -- touring incessantly and garnering a huge, dedicated following in the process. What the duo neglected to announce, however, was that a final album was already in the works, and while they would not tour together again, steps were being taken to fini…
"pong - referring to the classic video game - is senking's fifth release on raster-noton, moving its focus on stretched dubstep rhythms. to these slow motion grooves, he adds shredded melodies, sub basses and echoes, which create an atmosphere like an angelo-badalamenti-soundtrack known from david lynch's movies. his electronic sound aesthetic reflects rather an organic texture than a machine made algorithm. in tradition of former dub producers, he generates his tracks while playing, and therefo…
Beautifully minimal new work by Asmus Tietchens using layers and stretch out sound fields as a compositional basis and placing miniatures inside them. 54 minutes, 8 tracks, handnumbered edition in nice paper sleeve 300 copies.
Brilliant new recordings by the prolific cosmopolitan (currently residing in Berlin) Michael Northam. Suhina is a notion for the sound of the wind moving through the trees. Instead of doing field recordings of wind Michael Northam tried to capture this feeling & the essence of this process through instrumental recordings from Indonesian flute & keyboard. Nature phenomena seen as the true manifestation of the Unknown. Stunning full colour artwork by Indian artist Rohini Devasher. White vinyl, edi…
Preservation's latest captures Italian experimentalist, Fabio Orsi in hungry, visceral form. Joined by Rich Baker's original drum loops, Fabio plays guitar, keyboards, voice and effects on eight relatively short, one might even say poppy, rock postures within an immersive ambient sound sphere. Considering that he's best known for lushly textured drone and ambient works 'Stand Before Me, Oh My Soul' is a hugely confident sideways shift into a new realm of more aggressive sonics with a def…
