2024, English, vinyl and book bundle, 48 pages, 30 x 30 cm. The 48-page illustrated booklet serves as a prequel to the exhibition and includes contributions from Bettina Steinbrügge (Director of Mudam Luxembourg), writer and musician Dan Fox, and curator Joel Valabrega, alongside visual material by the artist. A Comparative Dialogue Act is a publication and vinyl record set accompanying the Luxembourg Pavilion’s project at the 60th Venice Biennale, realized by artist Andrea Mancini and the collective Every Island. Conceived as an infrastructure for the transmission of sound, the project transforms the pavilion into a shared production space, challenging traditional notions of individual authorship and emphasizing collective creation. The publication provides insight into the conceptual and collaborative processes behind the project, which positions sound and space as interconnected, with architectural elements-floors and walls-functioning as sound devices to create an immersive environment.

Throughout the Biennale, the pavilion hosted four guest artists-Selin Davasse, Célin Jiang, Stina Fors, and Bella Báguena-who each developed new sound performances during individual residencies. The artists did not meet in person; instead, they worked with a shared sound library, each leaving behind new material for subsequent residents. This process resulted in a continuously evolving soundscape, synthesizing individual contributions into a collective sonic experience.

The included vinyl record, released at the close of the Biennale, documents this ongoing dialogue, capturing both live and composed elements from the pavilion’s six-month program. Rather than following a linear narrative, the record reflects the dynamics of collaboration, with moments of convergence and divergence among the artists’ practicesA Comparative Dialogue Act stands at the intersection of visual art, performance, and sound, offering a record of an experimental project that explores the potential of sound as a medium for negotiation, intervention, and exchange
