A biography of André Jolivet (1905 to 1974) written by his widow Hilda Jolivet, and published by Flammarion in 1978. It follows him from his studies with Edgard Varèse to the founding of the group La Jeune France in 1936 with Olivier Messiaen, Daniel-Lesur and Yves Baudrier, and through the incantatory music of Mana and the Cinq incantations for flute.
Each work is described in turn, often with anecdotes from their life together, up to his years as music director of the Comédie-Française and teacher of composition at the Paris Conservatoire. A 308-page paperback in French with 16 pages of photographs.
