Julianna Barwick and Mary Lattimore's score for Threshold, the documentary on cross-country ski champion Jessie Diggins: sixteen cues with an open palette of harp, voice and more, after their duo album Tragic Magic.

CD version. After Tragic Magic, their first album as a duo, released in January, Julianna Barwick and Mary Lattimore close 2026 with a very different project: the original score for Threshold, the documentary by Lars Brinkema and Torsten Brinkema about the four-time Olympic medallist Jessie Diggins.

The film follows the cross-country ski champion through a single season, from Arctic Circle races to the first World Cup on American snow in twenty-five years, while she fights a severe eating disorder. Where Tragic Magic was bound to a set of historic and fragile instruments, here the palette was open, but the music had to live inside Diggins' story, with its triumphs and its very human low points that, in Lattimore's words, call for musical tenderness.

Sixteen cues composed by the two and recorded in Highland Park and Echo Park, Los Angeles, with Jake Falby on violin and Martin Jarzyna on guitar, mixed by Paul Corley and mastered by Joshua Eustis. A co-release of Florid Recordings and Blue Pool Recordings.
