Before he was the conductor who ran the Rome Opera and Stuttgart Radio Symphony, Gianluigi Gelmetti wrote library music, and this Cenacolo LP is a guitar album in two halves: early music and lute-style pieces on one side, contemporary guitar writing on the other. The playing is refined and the writing on the modern side is properly modern, extended techniques included.
A conductor's library record is an oddity in itself, and this one is on the same Cenacolo series as the Marletta. Original pressing, M 714.
