Two marvellous pieces, one for piano and tape from 1985 plus one for piano, percussion and pre-recorded sounds from 1999, wonderfully performed and released on CD-only in 2003.

condition (disc/cover): M / M (still sealed)  - Collection on L'Empreinte Digitale functions as anthology, a possible introduction to a vast catalog. Luc Ferrari appears here in his multiple aspects: anecdotal, erotic, abstract, documentary. The collection doesn't pretend completeness but offers samples, tastes, invitations to dig deeper.

The CD format permits durations that vinyl prohibited. Ferrari could finally let pieces breathe that twenty-minute sides had forced into truncation. But something was lost too: the physicality of black vinyl, the ritual of side changes, the interruption that punctuated listening. Every format imposes its own dramaturgy. L'Empreinte Digitale's release serves as gateway drug for the uninitiated.
