In physical terms, Die Kabine (the cabin) is a hundred-year-old wardrobe. It is the resonant space of this album. Resulting from the opposing desires to hide myself and, on the other hand, to show myself, since April 2023 I have been taking my place with the wardrobe in cultural spaces in an ongoing series of performances, using the tools of my voice, a drill and instruments to create rhythms and feedbacks. On the one hand, the drill destroys the dark security of the wardrobe's interior with bachial noises that can, on the other hand, squeal noticeably or even chirp, while it produces holes in the bottoms, through which rays of light fall into the interior as if from reproducing stars.
In September 2024, I travelled with the cabin to Parcoul-Chenaud in the Grange Cavale studio to use the recordings of the armoire sessions as a basis for the 14 pieces on this album. In this way, an “armoire” relationship of improvised musical performance and structured songs was formed.
