Four historic films made in collaboration with Madeline Tourtelot: 1. Rotate the Body in All Its Planes [1961]: art-film, gymnastics display and corporeal music meet this graceful study of motion. 2. Music Studio—Harry Partch [1958]: a documentary about Partch's hand-built microtonal instruments and the making of the soundtrack for Windsong. 3. U.S. Highball (1958; completed 1968): an account of riding the rails during the Depression on a transcontinental hobo trip to Chicago. 4. Windsong (1958): the ancient Greek legend of Daphne and Apollo, transported to Lake Michigan. Partch's sound track for this film later became known as Daphne of the Dunes.
