2025 stock Lunapark is the trio of Burkhard Ballein, Klaus "Schlips" Gebauer, Reinhard "Zoppen" Benisch from Wuppertal, Germany. The boys were dissatisfied with their surrounding musical environment in 1981, so they set off to create their own brand of Neue Deutsche Welle (NDW "New German Wave”). Their influences included classics such as The Beatles, Colloseum, Roxy Music, and Frank Zappa, as well as New Wave and punk acts like Sex Pistols, Ian Dury & The Blockheads, Blondie and The Cure.

Gefangene Vögel’ (‘Prisoner Birds’) is their debut album, which was released by Stuttgart-based Intakt-Records in 1982. They recorded 10 tracks using a simple set up of guitar, bass, drums, drum-computer, and Korg MS-10 & MS-20 synthesizers. Songs range from the Belgian-leaning industrial and cold sounds to more typically NDW-influenced quirkiness. In the vein of Sad Lovers and Giants and Schleimer K, they blend post-punk and new wave music with electronic elements. The monotone German vocals epitomize the Zeitgeist of the Cold War.

Details
Cat. number: DE-091
Year: 2015
Notes:
The album was recorded Max Guld’s 30-square-meter apartment from the beginning of 1984 to the beginning of 1985. The songs were made in chronological order except ”Preben og Irene” that was made after ”Bent” but moved in front of ”Leif's Jamren”. The Instruments are as follow: Moog Prodigy, Roland Organ/Strings 09, Korg KPR-77 rhythm machine, Gibson Les Paul De Luxe and a Rickenbacker bass. It was recorded on at Yamaha MT-44 4-track cassette through a home built mixer and mixed down to a Luxman stereo cassette. The 2-track stereo was transferred back to theYamaha giving two more tracks to record and then finally mixed down to the master. A spring reverb from a TV was also used and an old reel-to-reel for effects like echo. No sequencers or equalizers were used. The songs were written by Max Guld who also played all instruments. At the time of recording three names were rotating on the turntable: Brian Eno, the Residents and Kraftwerk. The cassette was originally released on Hub Records. The label was based in a suburb of Copenhagen around Alberstlund Rock Club. The first and only issue was 100 copies, that the director himself copied. It was distributed along other independent labels as a joint distribution. In this way, there were about 30 copies sold as far we know.
