Augusto Martelli was Mina's arranger and the composer of Djamballà, the theme from Piero Vivarelli's Il dio serpente (1970), a Caribbean-set film about voodoo, sex and a bored Italian wife that became a cult on the strength of its music. The score is Afro-Latin lounge: congas, flute, wordless choir, a hook that has been sampled and reissued repeatedly.
Cinevox original, ORL series. The film is negligible; the record is not, and it is the point of entry for the whole Italian "exotic erotic" soundtrack style of the early seventies.
