* Edition of 500. 2020 Stock * Quartet Records and Cinevox presents the premiere release of an Enrico Simonetti giallo score. La ragazza di Via Condotti is an Italian crime thriller starring Frederick Stafford as Sandro Mattei who investigates the murder of his philandering wife at the hands of her lover. By using his girlfriend’s skills to magnify a photo (with hints of Michelangelo Antonioni’s Blow-Up), Sandro traces down a mysterious stripper whose rich clients, including a powerful lawyer, may be involved in the case…
The score for the film was composed by Enrico Simonetti, the father of Goblin’s own Claudio Simonetti. The music is anchored by the powerful theme song “Una Ragazza Come Tante”, performed by Augusto Daolio of the Italian band I Nomadi. Featuring a handful of more instrumental variations of the theme song, but the rest of the program offers some great funk suspense pieces for Sandro’s connecting of the dots to find the killer, recalling the style of Lalo Schifrin’ score for Dirty Harry.
The theme song and a piano instrumental of the theme have been previous released on an 45 RPM, this CD marks the first ever release of the complete original recording. Mastered by Claudio Fuiano, the 8-page booklet features liner notes by Gergely Hubai discussing the film and the score.
