Limited edition CD & download album from Danny Thompson’s group fusing jazz with folk music. The triple CD comes in an 8-panel digisleeve with 28 page booklet detailing the complete history of the band and illustrated with photos and images mainly from Paul Dunmall’s archives.

When asked “is it jazz or folk?” about his band Whatever, Danny Thompson replied “well, it’s Whatever!” Hence the name. When Danny started Whatever, a trio with reed player Tony Roberts and guitarist Bernie Holland, and in 1988 made his first album as leader, he said, “I had an idea to incorporate elements of jazz and folk music to make a melodic instrumental album with a distinct English flavour.” He said “Is it jazz? Is it folk? ‘Oo gives a monkeys?”

The band made three studio albums and toured throughout 1989 to 1992. Working with Paul Dunmall and Tony Roberts, Jazz In Britain has compiled a three-disc album of live recordings from those tours.
