The Topography of the Lungs is finally re-issued. A landmark album in the British avant garde – the first record ever on Incus Records (originally released in 1970) and a monumental set of improvisations between Parker, Bailey, and Bennink, considered by many to be a key recording in the history of improvised music, it brought together three musicians who then continued to develop the genre in the intervening three decades:EVAN PARKER (soprano & tenor saxophones), DEREK BAILEY (guitar) and HAN BENNINK (percussion, etc).
Recorded in Fulham, London 13th July 1970.
Reissue of what was the first ever Incus label release, originally issued in 1970.
Two previously unissued pieces from the same 1970 session (tracks 5 & 6) have also been added to the disc.
