Rubén D'Hers - Bolero Transparente (Vertical Music 01)

Closing chords of potential songs one after the other, for acoustic guitar and a loudspeaker in a room. The pieces are constructed out of the transition from one open tuning to another and are inspired by Bolero songs from the 1970s. Recorded in the artist’s studio in Berlin.

Rubén D’Hers is a guitarist and sound artist from Venezuela, currently living in Berlin. He uses stringed musical instruments and mechanical objects to evoke a sense of space and to reconstruct harmonic qualities from sounds of the indoor environment.

Jen Reimer & Max Stein - Sounding the City 001​-​002 (Vertical Music 02)

Site-specific music from the instalments of Sounding the City in Montréal and São Miguel. The ongoing project captures urban environments and re-imagines their soundscapes through public installations and acoustic interventions.

Jen Reimer & Max Stein are sound artists based in Montréal & Los Angeles. Their work explores the resonances of urban sonic environments through in-situ performances, installations and spatial recordings.

Ludwig Berger - Inumaki, Esuzaki (Vertical Music 03)

Inumaki tree (Podocarpus macrophyllus) recorded with a contact microphone during strong wind in the forest of Esuzaki Island, Wakayama, Japan on June 14, 2018, from 2 to 3 p.m. The unedited and unprocessed recording was reintroduced to the acoustics of the forest.

Ludwig Berger is a sound artist and composer based in Milano and Zurich. He creates sound pieces, installations, walks and urban interventions in the intersection of sound, ecology and architecture. He is sound researcher at the Institute of Landscape Architecture at ETH Zurich.
