Tim Hodgkinson

Tim Hodgkinson (born 1949 in Salisbury) plays reeds, keyboards and lap steel guitar. With Fred Frith he co-founded Henry Cow in 1968 while studying at Cambridge (social anthropology, graduated 1971) and stayed until the group ended in 1978. He later formed The Work (1980) and the improvising trio Konk Pack (1997). From the early 1990s he returned to composition, after meeting the Romanian composer Iancu Dumitrescu, working with the behaviour of sounds and unstable acoustic systems. His book Music and the Myth of Wholeness was published by MIT Press in 2016. Mode has released his Onsets and Sketch Of Now.
