Sole album by experimental art-rock duo with RIO connections on The Work's Woof label, released in 1984 and featuring Henry Cow's Tim Hodgkinson and Catherine Jauniaux among others as well as music based on pieces by the mighty Furious Pig.

condition (record/cover):  EX / EX-

Issued in 1984 on the Woof Records label run by Tim Hodgkinson and Bill Gilonis of The Work, Let's Het is the only LP by Het, a London-based experimental collective built around the duo of Cass Davies and Dominic Weeks (previously of the briefly existing a cappella outfit Furious Pig). Recorded between 1983 and March 1984 at Cold Storage, the studio This Heat had built in Brixton, with Hodgkinson producing and contributing oddly inflected saxophone parts of his own, the record extends the Furious Pig premise (multi-voice post-punk with unorthodox arrangements) into a fuller instrumental palette.

The result is one of the strangest objects to emerge from the Recommended Records-adjacent scene of the mid-1980s. The two-voice harmonies of Davies and Weeks are joined by Stephen Kent (later a didgeridoo specialist) and Martin Kent, plus assorted guest vocalists. The arrangements are dry, percussive, sometimes nearly a cappella, with Hodgkinson's saxophone cutting in like an abrasive comment. The program operates at the intersection of Robert Wyatt, Slapp Happy and The Residents without sounding like any of them.

The original vintage Woof Records pressing on WOOF 009, with full lyric insert. The Woof catalog from this period contains only fifteen titles across fourteen years (Hodgkinson and Gilonis ran it as a strict author-controlled label); Let's Het is one of the rarest entries and a singular post-punk record from the RIO orbit. Scarce and peculiar.
