Abisso Maledetto
HDK, in its series called "Morbid tales", proposes (in episodes) the "I Racconti di Dracula" soundtracks by Teeth of Glass, attaching to the cassette a booklet with the complete scripts. Here is the fourth episode, "Abisso Maledetto" ("Cursed Abyss"): A wealthy man with a history of drug addiction and depression lives on a remote Irish island where inexplicable and bloody events happen. I Verdi Occhi Della Dea Vampira
*Limited edition with booklet* HDK, in its series called "Morbid tales", proposes (in episodes) the "I Racconti di Dracula" soundtracks by Teeth of Glass, attaching to the cassette a booklet with the complete scripts. Here is the third episode, "I Verdi Occhi Della Dea Vampira" ("The green eyes of the vampyre goddess"): in a gloomy and sooty London, an important archaeological discovery awakens the thirst for revenge of an ancient Middle Eastern divinity and the followers of her blasphemous cult…
Coltrane's Sound
Complete rendition of the saxophonist’s famed divinely inspired suite was recorded at Seattle’s Penthouse in 1965. Despite being John Coltrane’s most celebrated album, and one of the most beloved jazz albums of all time, A Love Supreme wasn’t a record that the saxophonist touched on much in the live setting. Up until now, most Coltrane enthusiasts have only ever heard a single live performance of the literally divinely inspired four-movement suite that makes up the LP. That will change in Octobe…
2nd Session 1956 Revisited
Here is a chance to hear Miles Davis in something close to real time. Small matter that most collectors of hard bop will have these sides already and will be familiar with a particular running order. Perhaps those who have invested in the complete sessions will have a clearer sense of the continuity of these remarkable sessions, but that now familiar obsession with the burrs and snarf of the studio process may win out over musical appreciation. What happened at Van Gelder’s on October 26 1956 is…
A Complete Anthology Of Solo And Duo Violin Pieces
Black Truffle is pleased to announce its second release from New York violin duo String Noise (Conrad Harris and Pauline Kim Harris), following on from their self-titled double-disc collection of compositions by Alvin Lucier (BT061). Here they present A Complete Anthology of Solo and Duo Violin Pieces by legendary American experimental composer Christian Wolff. The youngest and in some ways most radical of the composers of the New York School (alongside Earle Brown, John Cage, and Morton Feldman…

Kites Are Fun
CD reissue of The Free Design's Kites Are Fun, originally released in 1967. To celebrate the 50th anniversary of one of Light In The Attic’s very first reissues, we are bringing back The Free Design’s debut album, Kites Are Fun. Featuring lyrics rife with social commentary masked by sugary yet complex harmonies and jazzy progressions, Kites Are Fun is a sunshine-bubblegum-daisy-puppy pop masterpiece that stands the test of time. Fans of the Beach Boys, the 5th Dimension and other seminal pop art…
Heaven / Earth
CD reissue of The Free Design's Heaven/Earth, originally released in 1969. A vocal band that made it through, the Free Design have been more than an exception in the glittering world of the psychedelic circus. That was the Age of Aquarius in the end, but in the long run the four-piece had an enormous impact on the younger generation. Released in 1969 Heaven/Earth is a cornerstone on its own and 30 years later the band had a sort of epiphany, thanks to the spanning interest of artists such as Cor…
Prayer
I think it's important and proper to play Steve Lacy's music today and that we have to take the risk. Keeping his example alive means to me every time to question the results achieved. My relationship with his music is not occasional. Steve is present in three tracks of my first album "trochus". Later I played his music alone and in various groups. I would like to remember at least the Fish Horn Quartet, with Fabio Martini, Jean Jaques Avenel and John Betsch, the sextet 5or6 Bones with Sebi Tram…
Tathata
Tathata is a central concept in Buddhism, literally translated from sanskrit as 'thusness' or 'suchness'. Tathata expresses appreciation of the true nature of reality in any given moment. As no moment is exactly the same, each one can be savored for what occurs at that precise time, whether it is thought of as being good or bad. However, Jeph Jerman and Doug Theriault are trying to give us the possibility to meditate on this word, they recorded three long improvised pieces for the same-titled al…
USA Concerts East
The CD contains tracks originally released in the LP "Usa Concerts" issued right after the first American tour of Centazzo in 1978 and three new tracks: one recorded in New York, at Zoo Place with Kondo e Chadbourne; a second in Woodstock in duo with Tom Corra in 1980 and the third one in Bolgna (Italy) in 1985 with the Philadelphia sax player Jack Wright. It was an homogeneous musical view the one that Centazzo found on the arrival in New York in 1978, rich of collaboration between musicians co…
Music In Fifths / Two Pages
Cantaloupe continues its recording series of the masterworks of the music of our time with this brilliant disc of two early classics by composer Philip Glass, performed by the Bang on a Can All-Stars. Glass is arguably minimalism's most well-known and influential composer. Before film soundtracks, operas, and universal acclaim, there were these intense, rugged, and demanding early works for keyboard. In Music in Fifths and Two Pages, Philip Glass's ideas are at their most basic, using only addit…
Remote Whale Control
John Wiese's Sissy Spacek ensemble counts the kinetic drumming of Danny McClain and hazardous, shredded guitar from Corydon Ronnau on their 2007 release, 'Remote Whale Control'. It's all diced and dissected by Wiese and his box of electronics tricks, diffusing their fury into stuttered digital gasps of digital glitch and splintered noise-rock protrusions.
The Centaur And The Phoenix
2022 Stock  From his first explosion of recordings in the mid-'50s, Yusef Lateef was a player who was always gently stretching the boundaries of his music to absorb techniques, new rhythms, and new influences from Africa, the Middle East and Asia. The Centaur and the Phoenix, however, takes the risks and the innovations that Lateef was known for, and expands them in a number of different directions all at once, leading to an album that bursts with new ideas and textures, while remaining accessib…

Let Our Rejoicing Rise
*2022 stock* In the year that Juneteenth was finally declared a national U.S. holiday, 2021, Joe McPhee and Tomeka Reid united for a live concert in celebration. Multi-instrumentalist McPhee was deeply moved by the historical nature of the circumstances, the incredible freight of that history of oppression and liberation represented in the legislation, both the insanity of its overdueness and the joy of its institutionalization. As a preamble to the music, McPhee led off with two poems, read wit…
Eight Pieces for Two Cellos
*In process of stocking* Repertoire for cello represents a little-explored niche of the greater jazz songbook. In 2013, cellists Tomeka Reid and Fred Lonberg-Holm turned their arrangerly and composerly attention to this terrain, assembling a selection of four originals (three by Lonberg-Holm, one by Reid) and four works by other composers. The latter include “Pluck It” by pioneering jazz cellist Fred Katz, member of the Chico Hamilton Quintet and soundtrack composer for Roger Corman films; “In W…
Live At Théâtre Du Chêne Noir, Avignon, France 1989
*2022 stock* On October 14th 1989, Horace Tapscott, founder of the Pan Afrikan Peoples Arkestra, performed alongside his close friend and musical partner Michael Session at the Théâtre du Chêne Noir in Avignon, France. This was during a tour in which they traveled across Europe. The duo presented compositions by Leimert Park musicians Jesse Sharps, Nate Morgan and Tapscott himself. The stark instrumentation of this concert led to minimal arrangements of compositions typically performed by much l…
Philadelphia, November 11, 1966
This release presents one of John Coltrane's last preserved live performances ever. Taped in Philadelphia with excellent sound quality, this set presents Coltrane playing probably the freest version of Naima, along with readings of two more of his compositions: Crescent and a powerful version of Leo. Coltrane died shortly after this performance at the age of 40 on July 11, 1967.
