Be! Jazz

Move
Jazz in Australia at its best with incredible sessions from autumn 1960 – three masters with unbelievable musical control and understanding. This album was recorded at the El Rocco club six weeks after the group was formed, and the boys claim they were only just becoming accustomed to one another’s playing. In all, they cut thirty different titles in two 3-hour sessions, all of which were one take only. This in itself is incredible as the resulting takes never fall below top-level
Sittin' In
The hard-swinging Three Out were attracting large and enthusiastic crowds in Sydney and shared the bill with such names as Dizzy Gillespie, Coleman Hawkins, Teddy Wilson and Sarah Vaughan. Here we find them continuing in the same exciting manner as their first album, 'Move'. The Three Out are joined by four horns on the second half of this album from 1960. The session has the flavour of the hard jazz of the American Masters of the sixties, particularly the "Big Soul Band" type from Chicago and N…
Fanfar!
The Lars Lystedt Quintet from Sweden played international Jazz festivals in the early 60s. On this session they feature the astonishing Leif Hellman on sax. Most tracks were composed and arranged by pianist Berndt Egerbladh, giving a fair indication of the considerable talents of this prolific writer. On the second side of this 10inch record is a recording of his "Arctic Suite". All these tracks were recorded during an August 1962 session. This reissue on LP was newly remastered for optimal soun…
Contemporary Jazz Mass
Tip**Remastered reissue, released in conjunction with the artist**  James Tatum's stunning, spiritualised Contemporary Jazz Mass is one of the only true jazz masses ever released. Inspired by Duke Ellington's Sacred Concerts, Tatum's masterwork was recorded on its first ever performance at St Cecilia Church in Detroit, and released on his own private label in 1974. At the time Ellington’s Concerts were quite controversial. Whilst they contained scriptural references they did not follow liturgica…

In a State of Undress
**Edition of 200 copies. This is the sixth release in BeJazz reissue series of long-lost classics from the legendary vaults of FMP Records, presented in restored original packaging and newly remastered for optimal sound** In the context of European free improvised music, it would be hard to find a name that towers to the heights of Peter Brötzmann. Trained as a visual artist, the saxophonist turned toward music during the second half of 1960s, and quickly became a focussed, creative lens for the…
Pearls
**Edition of 200 copies.** For fans of European free jazz, Globe Unity Orchestra needs little introduction. The project is nothing short of legendary, carving a path over the last half century. European Jazz Sounds
The few recordings made by the Modern Jazz Group, based in Freiburg, Germany, are scarcely documented. The MJGF was founded around 1954 by pianist Ewald "Waldi" Heidepriem, one of the pioneers of modern jazz in Germany in the 1950s. The music of the Modern Jazz Group Freiburg was truly excellent. Even today it sounds incredibly modern and energetic. This release documents a wonderful chapter of German jazz history. European modern jazz at its finest! Vinyl-edition.
Les Liaisons Dangereuses
The music presented here, composed and conducted by Duke Jordan, is an important jazz work. Duke Jordan was known as Charlie Parker's pianist, and his solo recordings revealed an original form in music, a genius pianist and composer. Jordan's original music for 'Les Liaisons Dangereuses' was recorded in 1959, featuring Art Taylor and Charlie Rouse, two members of Duke's group. With these recordings Duke Jordan clearly announced the dawning of a new era in jazz. This reissue comes with newly rema…
European Jazz Sounds
A CD of unreleased live recordings and rare radio sessions. During the period 1953-1964 the Michael Naura Quintett was one of Germany's most successful jazzbands. The music of this eclectic quintet was strongly influenced by George Shearing, Dave Brubeck and Horace Silver's hard bop, but also by the chamber-influenced style of the Modern Jazz Quartet. From 1953 on, vibraphonist Wolfgang Schlüter was the main improviser in Naura's quintet. The remastered music on this album will blow you away and…
European Jazz Sounds

This release documents a special chapter in German jazz history. Alto Saxophone, Clarinet – Bernd Rabe Baritone Saxop…

Schizo
Pianist Berndt Egerbladh was a prolific writer with considerable talents, who also recorded with Lars Lystedt. The three musicians in this trio (Egerbladh, Björn Alke and Sten Ödberg) were all on the same wavelength and able to change between different musical moods. This is a remastered vinyl reissue of a 1964 recording, issued in an edition of 500 LP's.
Night Music 1974
A never-heard live session from the great Eje Thelin – a mid 70s set that has the trombonist working with a cool quartet that includes some Fender Rhodes from Harald Svensson – who makes a wonderful partner for Thelin's long-blown lines! Eje had already grown tremendously as a musician in the 60s – from bop to modern to avant in the space of a few short years – and here, he moves back into more soulful territory which opens up perfectly next to the Rhodes – with these very fluid, open solos that…
