Original US edition with die-cut sleeve on Embryo Records of the live free jazz fusion album by the American saxophonist's quartet with European musicians.

condition (record/cover): NM / VG+ (light general wear, cut-out)

Die-cut gatefold sleeve.

Phil Woods moved to France in 1968 and put together the European Rhythm Machine with Gordon Beck on piano, Henri Texier on bass and Daniel Humair on drums. This is the quartet live at the Frankfurt Jazz Festival, produced by the festival's Horst Lippmann and issued in the US on Embryo, Herbie Mann's label, in 1971.

The four tracks run eleven to thirteen and a half minutes each. Eddie Harris's Freedom Jazz Dance opens, Woods's own Ode A Jean-Louis is dedicated to the critic Jean-Louis Ginibre, who wrote the liner notes, and the band also plays Victor Feldman's Josua and Beck's The Meeting. Woods plays alto saxophone, and the US edition came in a die-cut gatefold sleeve.
