*50 copies limited edition* Indefinite Boundary is pleased to offer Automation & Torso, the debut release by Twin Terminals – the first in a new and highly fruitful collaborative endeavour from vocalist/chaos-poet Ryan-Lewis Walker (Manchester, UK) and multi-instrumentalist/producer Niikkolahs (Tokyo, JP). Cutting across ten tracks, lyrically the album is jammed with a caustic action painting of hallucinatory soap operas deep fried into states of fragmentary exposure. While undertaking personal exorcisms (eating disorders, autism, addiction, sexuality, childhood, morality), but still wanting to articulate a set of themes accessible to anyone who should find solace in the subject matter of these songs, the ten pressured vignettes on Automation & Torso readily succumb to moments of head-melting intensity.

Every line hisses and bleeds, every image leaps and radiates through complex webs of electronic power as conjured up by Niikkolahs. More than just an instrumental backdrop for Walker's puppet show vocals to sit against, the music within: part post-industrial dirge and lacerations of neo-psychedelic fallout, part post-punk jolt and molten overloads of misshapen riffage, all trembles in volatile states of wrathful sentience and texturally permeates the voice with an often unrecognisable sense of parasitical allure. Sharpened and blunted by the infectious hold of those semi-lucid tapestries, seemingly unravelling the more they work to enclose themselves around the voice, itself trapped between a disembodied echo and a butcher in a welding mask, the lexicon of Automation & Torso is both musically and linguistically founded upon a constant blurring of the barriers where one element ends and another begins.

With “otherworldly” and “buried” being just a couple of select terms exchanged between Walker and Niikkolahs throughout the creation of the album, the intent of Automation & Torso is to present a series of surrealistic impressions of the surrounding environment. An environment stretched and shattered into small portals of grotesque, yet deeply gratifying eroticism and chimerical horror.
