On Barker Final, Ivan The Tolerable closes the door on 1a Barker Road with a set of songs conceived, performed and mastered entirely by Oli Heffernan. The album feels like a final dispatch from a long‑running home studio, where restless experiments in tone and texture are distilled into a focused, late‑night farewell.

Browning Out With Ivan The Tolerable is the new album by Ivan The Tolerable, the project of UK artist Oli Heffernan. Released on September 4, 2026 through Ack! Ack! Ack! Records, it presents a richly layered blend of post-rock, ambient, electronic, and experimental textures.

Written, recorded, mixed, and mastered by Heffernan in Middlesbrough in July 2026, the record uses electric bass, synths, drum machines, samples, drones, loops, guitars, organs, electric piano, kalimba, and percussion to build immersive, slowly evolving soundscapes.

Its nine tracks—ranging from the brief opener “Coastal Shield” to the expansive “A Square Of Sky”—move between hypnotic rhythms, atmospheric drones, and melodic fragments. The result feels both grounded and cosmic: intimate home-studio music with a wide, exploratory sense of space.ivanthetolerable.bandcamp+1

Browning Out With Ivan The Tolerable is a meditative, genre-crossing LP for listeners drawn to ambient post-rock, kosmische electronics, and textured experimental sound. It favors atmosphere and gradual transformation over conventional song structures, inviting deep, unhurried listening.
