Ivan the Tolerable

In Green arrives as a deliberately unusual proposition from Ivan The Tolerable: a one-sided LP whose physical economy amplifies the music’s sense of concentration. The project has always been the mutable solo universe of Middlesbrough-based musician Oli Heffernan - sometimes loud, sometimes quiet, sometimes solitary, sometimes opened out into a band. Across a steadily expanding catalogue, Heffernan has treated recording not as a route toward fixed identity but as an ongoing process of movement, an impatient and restless practice that can absorb psych, jazz, krautrock, drone, library music and low-fi electronic experiment without belonging entirely to any one of them.
