On Crónicas Intrascendentes, Akenathon threads a shadowed, cinematic strain of Argentine progressive rock through small, quotidian vignettes. Everyday scenes – a clown’s complaint, a kiosk errand, the death of a cobbler – become surreal miniatures where symphonic textures, narrative vocals and sly humor turn “inconsequential” chronicles into quietly unsettling parables.

Crónicas Intrascendentes finds Akenathon at a point of lucid maturity, taking the vocabulary of progressive and symphonic rock and applying it not to apocalyptic myths or grand concept sagas, but to the tiny fissures of everyday life. The very title (“Inconsequential Chronicles”) is a provocation: these are stories that appear trivial on the surface – a jester’s complaint, an irresistible tic, Emma going to the kiosk, the death of a shoemaker, footprints that may or may not mean anything – yet the band treats them with a seriousness of craft more often reserved for weighty epics. In doing so, they suggest that meaning hides in the margins, in the small gestures and half‑noticed routines of a world saturated with information, urgent news and anesthetizing noise.

Emerging from La Plata’s fertile progressive scene, Akenathon have long resisted strict genre boxes, but Crónicas Intrascendentes crystallizes their aesthetic into a coherent, narrative‑driven arc. Across seven tracks, they build a soundworld that is at once shadowed and luminous: intricate guitar lines and organ swells interlock with fluid bass work and detailed drumming, while keyboards open out into widescreen, almost filmic atmospheres. Vocals – often shared and layered – carry much of the album’s conceptual weight, moving between character‑driven storytelling, sardonic asides and more abstract, poetic reflections. The result feels less like a collection of songs and more like a sequence of short films scored from the inside.
