Following three studio albums (Stoa, 2006; Holon, 2008; and Lyria, 2010) plus a double live album (2012) with his electric band Ronin, Swiss pianist and composer Nik Bärtsch now unveils a new release with his original ensemble, Mobile – whose lineup partially overlaps with the current Ronin formation.

Originally formed in 1997, Mobile (here enhanced on three tracks by a string quintet) represents the foundation of Bärtsch's ritualistic approach to music-making. This distinctive style has been shaped by his exploration of reduction and repetition, as well as his deep fascination with Japanese culture. The album seamlessly weaves together textures from jazz, funk, contemporary classical, minimalism, and sacred music, all converging into a powerful, organic group sound.

Continuum was recorded in March 2015 at RSI Studio in Lugano and produced by Manfred Eicher. The album marks both a return to roots and an evolution of Bärtsch’s signature "ritual groove music," blending hypnotic precision with expansive sonic depth.

Nik Bärtsch continues to redefine the boundaries between composition and improvisation, offering listeners a mesmerizing journey through rhythm, space, and meditative intensity.
