Original 1980 edition of 415 Records of one of the very best synth-wave albums by San Francisco pioneering synthpunk unit.

condition (record/cover): EX / EX. The 1980 debut by San Francisco's Units. Pure synthesizer punk before that was common - drum machines, primitive synths, and robotic vocals creating minimalist new wave that sounds like Devo meets Suicide filtered through West Coast sensibilities. No guitars, no bass, just electronics and attitude. Scott Ryser and Rachel Webber's vocals trade off and harmonize over mechanical rhythms and buzzing synthesizer lines. Songs are stripped down to essential elements, each sound chosen deliberately. The band emerged from San Francisco's post-punk scene but their approach was radically electronic at a time when most punk bands still relied on traditional rock instrumentation. Digital Stimulation remains a landmark of early American synth-punk, showing a path that few followed at the time.
